Yunita Siwi, our Education Officer, has been with us from the start. She loves contributing to yaki conservation because “conservation is my passion… Minahasa is my land… and Yaki is our Macaque! And I’m proud to be part of SY!”
Meet our wonderful Program Manager, the one and only Harry Hilser! What inspired him to travel all the way to North Sulawesi and contribute to yaki conservation? He says, “Yaki are a unique and wonderful cousin of ours, who deserve to share this beautiful planet we live on for many years to come.”
Meet Caroline! She says, “I love contributing to yaki conservation, because they have as much right as humans to live on this Earth. I’m in a position where I can help them, so I will!”
Meet Edyson, our Tangkoko Project Manager! “I love contributing to yaki conservation because I am happy to prevent and reduce the rate of extinction of the largest non-human primates are endemic to North Sulawesi.”
Meet Reyni! Our programme secretary! Reyni loves contributing to yaki conservation because “… they really need to be saved from extinction so our next generation will be able to see Yaki as the heritage of the nature of North Sulawesi. I also want to inspire people contributing to conservation as i got inspired by the hard work of Selamatkan Yaki!”

As all rounder, Jurriaan helps the Selamatkan Yaki programme whenever he can and has for example developed the Yaki Video Game (can be found on our website). Why does he think yaki conservation is important? Jurriaan: “I can not stand by and see my fellow primate go extinct…”
Meet Apandi, designer of many SY T shirts, billboards and other amazing art! Apandi has been helping our team for more than a year and helps out at events as well!

Meet Stenly! Meet Stenly! Being part of our social media team, he says, “I love contributing to yaki conservation, because that is one way I can do to save the animal from extinction.”
Meet our awesome fundraising volunteer, Jodie! She says, “I love contributing to Yaki conservation because saving the Yaki means saving the rainforest, and all other life that’s lives within it! Seeing the species disappear would be a great loss to nature. We must protect the yaki so that it can thrive in its natural habitat and in years to come, when we ourselves have disappeared, new generations can enjoy this species and see its true beauty in the way that it has graced us!”
Ever wondered who helped us design our fantastic calendar 2013-2014 & smashing text panels for our yaki exhibition in North Sulawesi? Meet graphic designer Prisi: “I love contributing to yaki conservation, because words like ‘endangered’ and ‘population depletion’ simply does not sit well with me and I’d just really like for people to stop messing with the environment & its wildlife. Also, stop eating endangered animals, please. And thank you.”

The Yaki are an incredible species, full of character and mischievousness and have a sparkle of hope in their eyes. I hope that my role in social media will help to raise the species profile which will ultimately aid the survival of the Yaki who have found a place in my heart.”
